Facing foreclosure? New Fannie Mae website helps consumers find options

Facing foreclosure? New Fannie Mae website helps consumers find options

WASHINGTON – Aug. 16, 2010 – Fannie Mae launched a new website to help consumers understand their options when facing foreclosure and the possible loss of their home. Called KnowYourOptions.com, it outlines the choices available to homeowners struggling to make mortgage payments, and provides guidance on how they can contact and work with their mortgage company to find a back-up plan.

KnowYourOptions.com provides information in both English and Spanish. Features include:

• Interactive Options Finder helps homeowners identify options.

• Calculators help borrowers understand how many of the options would work in their situation, including calculations about refinance, repayment, forbearance, and modification.

• Videos feature real homeowners discussing how they received help; others feature housing counselors giving advice.

• Forms – including a financial checklist and contact log – to help borrowers prepare for a meeting with their mortgage company or housing counselor.

• Information on refinancing, repayment plans, forbearance, modifications and Deed-for-Lease.

• Out-of-the-box alternatives, including short sales and deeds-in-lieu for homeowners who recognize that they can no longer afford their mortgages, but want to avoid a foreclosure on their credit history

Cape Coral Turns 40!!!!

The City of Cape Coral will be celebrating 40 Years as a city on August 18th, 2010. Cape Coral has been known as a waterfront wonderland with over 400 miles of canals with many giving boaters access to the Caloosahatchee River and the Gulf of Mexico.  Cape Coral has continued to grow in the past 40 years. In 1960 the Cape only had a population of 280 people and now has a population of 150,000. The projection is for Cape Coral to have approx. 180,000 people by 2015.

Cape Coral will celebrate with fireworks and a parade at the annual Coconut Festival that will be held November 12 thru the 14th.

CELEBRATE PARKS & RECREATION MONTH

CELEBRATE PARKS & RECREATION MONTH

Fort Myers, FL, July 14, 2010 – Parking fees will be waived at Lee County regional parks and boat ramps and swimmers will have free admission to county pools on the weekend of Saturday, July 24 and Sunday, July 25.

Lee County Commissioners waived the parking fees and pool admission in celebration of National Parks & Recreation Month, which is marked each July.

“As part of the nationwide celebration, Lee County is pleased to be a part of recognizing the many values and benefits of parks and recreation,” said Dave Harner, deputy director of Lee County Parks & Recreation. “Parks and recreation’s preserves, facilities and sites touch the lives of almost everyone from the very young to the very old.”

Lee County also would like to recognize the 800 volunteers who serve the department, Harner said.

“Parks, greenways, blueways and open spaces provide a welcome respite from a fast-paced, high-tech lifestyle while protecting and preserving Lee County’s natural environment,” said Kathy Cahill, Southwest Region director for the Florida Recreation and Park Association who also is the Lee County Parks & Recreation volunteer services coordinator.

The Board of County Commissioners urges all citizens to visit the parks, especially on the weekend of July 24 and 25.

RE/MAX Realty Team Sponsors RED, WHITE & BOOM!!!!

Florida Office Saves Fourth of July Party

HOMETOWN HEROES: Yoselyn Hollow (right) appears on a local morning news program July 2 to promote the event sponsored by her office.

By Deborah Ball Kearns, RE/MAX Times Online Associate Editor

More than 30,000 people will watch fireworks light up the night sky on July Fourth in Cape Coral, Fla. But it's an event that almost didn't happen until RE/MAX Realty Team stepped up to the plate and saved the day.

In November, the City of Cape Coral announced it was canceling the annual event because of budget cuts – a sad reality faced by many local governments across the U.S. due to the recession. RE/MAX Realty Team offered to take the reins and signed on as the title sponsor of the "Red, White and Boom!" celebration for three years.

"We had a great year in 2009, so we were in a great position to give back to the community," says Broker/Owner Yoselyn Hollow. "This is an event that residents of Cape Coral need with everything going on right now, and we want to show our appreciation to the community for helping make us successful."

Community leaders and residents hailed the office and its agents as "the folks who saved Fourth of July" for Cape Coral. The free event, which was renamed "RE/MAX Realty Team's Red, White and Boom!," will feature a grilling recipe contest, live entertainment, a children's play area, a RE/MAX photo booth and more.

For $100 apiece, families reserve their own grassy 10x10 lot to enjoy the festivities. And the best part: 100 percent of the net proceeds from the lot sales, as well as other fundraising efforts, are going to Children's Miracle Network.

RE/MAX Realty Team hired a public relations agency to help them spread the word and capitalize on its title sponsorship to create as many brand impressions as possible, Hollow says.

"We want to let everyone know that RE/MAX is throwing this party; we'll have a RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon, cold-air balloons, RE/MAX branded arches, banners and more," Hollow says. "We've generated quite a few business leads from our promotion efforts so far, and we want to make our presence even more prominent in the community."
